Packham Pears

Packams are a delicious dessert pear. The mainly green skin colour turns yellow when ripe and the flesh is firm, sweet and juicy.

How to store

Ripen at room temperature. Store ripe pears in refrigerator in a ventilated plastic bag to allow air circulation.

How to cook

For complementary flavours, add packham pear wedges and a handful of walnuts to cheese boards.

For a quick dessert, peel and half pears and slightly poach in a little water, brown sugar and 2-3 cloves. Present with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or yoghurt, sprinkle with chocolate sauce or cocoa powder and serve with cream.

Go well with

Cheese, such as brie, camembert or our Fromager de Clarines. Also great with rocket, brie, raw ham, duck, apple, spinach, honey, passionfruit, blackcurrants, pistachios, almonds and vanilla yoghurt.
