Cup Mushrooms

Mushroom cups are white and have up to 50% of the veil broken, i.e.; showing the gills; and they can vary in size. Use in salads, soups, casseroles or stir-fried dishes.

How to store

Mushrooms are best stored unwashed in brown paper bags in the refrigerator, preferably on the lowest shelf. Alternatively use a cloth bag or clean tea towel to wrap the mushrooms.

How to cook

Mushrooms prepared ahead of time can be sprinkled with a little lemon juice to prevent discolouration.

If you are eating your mushrooms raw in salads or with party dips, wipe them over with a clean, damp paper towel, or rinse quickly under cold running water and pat dry with paper towel.

The stem is a good source of flavour and nutrients so there is no need to remove the stem. Mushrooms are a flavoursome addition to soups, casseroles, quiches, frittatas and pasta dishes and are also delicious simply barbecued as a side dish.
