Cauliflower

White headed cauliflowers are the most popular. The last few years have also seen the green and purple cross-bred varieties ("broccoflower") entering the market.

How to buy

Look for cauliflower with pure white heads, without any brown tinges. The flowers should be tightly packed, and the leaves should be fresh and green.

How to store

Remove the think outside leaves then store cauliflower in a plastic bag in the crisper section of the fridge for 3-4 days.

How to cook

For a tasty salad, toss cooked cauliflower florets with baby spinach, pecan nuts, cherry tomatoes and honey-soy dressing.

For nibbles with drink, dip florets of cauliflower into tempura batter then deep-fry until golden.

Stir-fry cauliflower florets with shredded red cabbage, fresh now peas and roasted peanuts.
