Sweet Corn

Sweet corn is formed from rows of tiny, individual flashy kernels, filled with cream milky flesh and enclosed in a golden skin.

There are three main varieties of corn: Golden sweet corn (Common), Polka Dot sweet corn and Ornamental Indian Maize. There are also hybrids coming from your common sweet corn such as super sweets and bi-colours that have yellow and white kernels.

How to buy

Select sweet corn which has a bright green husk.

How to store

Wrap in damp paper towels around the husks and store in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

How to cook

For a quick and easy soup, cook raw corn kernels, shredded barbecued chicken and instant noodles in chicken stock until hot.

For a quick lunch, dinner or BBQ side dish, cook peeled corn cobs until tender and season with butter and a dash of salt.
