Continental Cucumbers

Continental cucumbers are long, thin and dark green in colour, with a slight hook or bend at one end. Cucumbers' high water content mean they are best served raw, in salads, sandwiches, dips and salsas.

How to store

Store cucumbers in the crisper section of your refrigerator. Use as soon as possible as excess cold deteriorates the cucumber.

How to cook

For a salsa to serve with smoked salmon, combine finely diced cucumber and pear, chopped parsley, and a little olive oil and lemon juice.

For a Greek salad to serve with lamb, combine cubes of cucumber, tomatoes and feta, red onion slices and olives.

For a refreshing summer salad, combine cucumber slices with sour cream, chopped dill, lemon rind and lemon juice.
