William Bartlet Pears

How to buy

Look for firm pears, with no soft spots or splits in their skin.

How to store

Store ripe pears in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.

How to cook

For a fresh dessert, thinly slice William Bartlett pears. Drizzle the base of a cake pan with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar. Arrange pear slices evenly over top then pour over a butter cake batter. Bake until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Serve with thick natural yoghurt.

For a fresh salad, combine sliced William Bartlett pears with halved strawberries, camembert cheese, mixed green salad leaves and chopped toasted pecan nuts. Drizzle with a mixture of balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

Goes well with

Cheese, such as brie, camembert or our Fromager de Clarines. Also great with rocket, raw ham, duck, apple, spinach, honey, passionfruit, blackcurrants, pistachios, almonds.
