Minimal packaging

All our organic fruit & vegetables are sourced locally from the Sydney and Melbourne Markets. They are supplied by "Organic Fresh" and their main goal is to pack all the organic fruit and vegetables in the least amount of plastic.

That is why you'll find that each piece of fruit and vegetable has been marked with a food-grade sticker, allowing us to avoid using more wrapping and most importantly giving our customers the choice to pick the pieces themselves. Based on bees wax, the glue on the sticker is non-toxic and also it helps our staff to easily identify pieces as "organic" at the check outs.

Biodegradable trays

Organic Fresh are gradually changing over to biodegradable trays - they are currently used for organic Garlic, Snow Pea, Ginger, Corn, Brussel Sprouts, Beans, Beetroot - basically, products that cannot be sold loosely.

Garlic, Snow Pea, Ginger - EATware® trays

The tray used is made from natural fibres, such as bamboo, sugar cane pulp, starch and water, with no chemical additives, so they are totally decomposable and bio-degradable. EATware® products decompose in soil within 180 days or will totally disperse in water within just two weeks.

Corn, Brussel Sprouts, Beans, Beetroot - AgroResin® trays

These trays are 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. AgroResin® is an environmentally sustainable packaging material made of renewable agricultural fibre. It is renewable, eco friendly and socially responsible plant fibre tray. It can be recycled as paper, or it can by home composted!
